Chris, aka @peacehook on TikTok, shares videos of himself “Peace Hooking” as a form of meditation. Scrolling through his TikTok account, in an attempt to determine whether or not the content is satirical, I’m met with countless videos of Chris clanking metal hooks together in a meditative “daze” set to a variety of classic rock “hits.”

 Other videos appear more coherent with tutorials explaining proper hook placement to release tension in the body. He goes live Wednesdays at 8 am Eastern to spread the peace hook love, however, his account is full of content to get you into his meditative vibe anytime. “Peace hooking is about bringing inner peace into our soul, and if we do that maybe it will spread among the world.”

Nothing like peacehookin to Pink Floyd. Roger Waters is the goat.

Chris has been active on YouTube for over 10 years, in an older video, uploaded six years ago, he explains his methodology. According to his older content, he uses Thera Canes, or acupuncture/massage hooks, to not only build strength and flexibility but to inspire meditation and chakra opening. He explains “Energy helps heal, it's all peace hooking is, it helps to bring inner peace so we can spread peace around the world.”

His exercises involve simple movement, often in a seated position, using the hook to build strength and increase flexibility by hitting acupressure points by pushing and pulling against the hooks. Many of his more recent “Peace Hooking” videos feel vaguely reminiscent of hula hoop dancers, or other “flow toys” typically used at raves or festivals.

@peacehook

Acupressure is a very important part of peacehookin. Extremely theraputic

 “If you can relax and you’re tension free you don’t really feel like harming other people.”

While most people didn't know how to respond to Chris' videos, Decco summed it up perfectly, "Catch me vibing with the thingmagigy."
